KALAMAZOO, MI -- C.E. Communication Services Inc. (CE COMM), "Your Trusted Data Center Partner," a leading supplier, manufacturer/innovator and service provider of Data Center/Networking products and services, based in Franklin, MA, recently partnered with "Team Sole Sisters & Brothers" to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure chapter of Southwest Michigan in memory of Trudy Ankney. CE COMM's corporate fundraising endeavor in Trudy's memory was directed by CE COMM's ownership team and presented to the SW Michigan Affiliate by the Vice President, Mark Weinegger.
The SW Michigan Affiliate of Komen for the Cure is a grass roots breast cancer fundraising organization totally dependent on volunteers. Their goal is to increase awareness of breast healthcare options for everyone in southwest Michigan and to help the uninsured and under-insured community members obtain good breast healthcare. The affiliate raises funds throughout the year. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised are used for local outreach breast cancer education, screening, and treatment programs. The remaining twenty-five percent go directly to fund national breast cancer research grants and fellowships. Local community and corporate participation, like this sponsorship by C.E. COMM, which has a Midwest office located nearby in Indiana, in the affiliates' annual fundraising events make such generous grants possible.
ABOUT SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE: In 1980, Susan G. Komen made a dying request to her younger sister, Nancy Brinker—alert women across the nation that breast cancer can strike any one at any time. Mammograms and breast self-examinations are important for all women. Susan died at age 36 after a three-year battle with breast cancer. Following Susan's spirit to help other women combat the disease, Nancy established the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. When the Komen Foundation started in 1982, polite women did not talk about breast cancer. It is hard to fight a disease people won’t even mention in it in public. One of Komen's earliest efforts was getting the subject out in the open, so the Foundation could confront breast cancer head on. For additional information about Susan G.
